Bison BBQ Brisket

This is a simple recipe that anyone can make for their friends and family rain or shine, grill or no grill! We love this recipe because anyone can make it and it's easy and convenient regardless of our busy schedule.

Ingredients:

  • Your favorite BBQ sauce (we only needed 16oz to partially submerge the brisket)

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp paprika poweder

  • 2 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tbsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 2-3lbs JJ Bison - bison brisket

  • 1 tbsp of olive oil

Directions:

  1. Combine the brown sugar, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.

  2. Pat the brisket with a paper towel, and then rub the combined ingredients over the bison brisket.

  3. Leave in the fridge for 2 - 24 hours (we left ours in for 24 hours).

  4. Take out the brisket and heat a cast iron pan with olive oil. Wait until the pan is hot, and sear the brisket on all sides.

  5. Put your bbq sauce in the slow cooker and submerge the brisket as best as possible.

  6. Set the slow cooker on low for 8 hours and flip the brisket if not fully submerged halfway through.

  7. After 8 hours, heat the oven to 300F.

  8. Remove the brisket and put it in an oven-safe pan.

  9. Take the remaining bbq sauce and pour over the brisket.

  10. Heat the brisket with the bbq sauce for 5-10 minutes until the bbq sauce caramelizes.

  11. Serve with rolls or by itself and enjoy!!
